This course is designed to give the real estate professional an understanding of the probate and taxable estate and how it applies to real property upon the death of the owner, both domestic and international.

The REALTOR® will learn the following:

  • What are the different probate estates in Florida and what assets are subject to probate
  • How the titling of real property affects the probate process
  • What assets are included in the gross taxable estate of a domestic and international decedent
  • What are the unified credits, marital deductions, and other expenses which can be used to lower the taxable estate of a decedent
  • What are the different strategies that can be implemented using a revocable trust, an irrevocable trust, corporations and family limited partnership’s to reduce a decedent’s taxable and probate estate.


Instructor: Don Gonzalez, Esq. is a practicing attorney in Weston, Florida with over 26 years of experience in immigration law, international tax law, foreign investment in real estate, and business and corporate law.  His practice is primarily geared toward assisting foreign nationals who invest in real estate or businesses in the United States for immigration purposes.  Educationally, he holds a Masters Degree in Finance, a Law Degree and Masters of Law in Taxation.  He regularly teaches continuing education courses he has created on the subject of investment-based visas and immigration both in the United States and internationally, as well as other topics.

Florida licensees will earn 3 hours of Specialty CE Credit upon successful course completion.
