Earn What You are Worth: Understanding Buyer Broker Agreement (3CE)

Tuesday, April 9, 2024 (9:00 AM - 2:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

In this new era of our industry where cooperative compensation may soon be optional, you need many tools to survive and thrive. One of those that deal with your bottom line and how you get paid is the Buyer Broker Agreement. This unique panel event featuring industry experts will provide you with all the insights you need to know.

When you represent a buyer, you invest countless hours of your valuable time. Ask yourself these questions – why should a buyer display loyalty to you? Why should they commit to you as their only agent? While we commonly request sellers to commit to a brokerage via agreements, why is a parallel expectation not extended to buyers?

Items discussed by our expert panelists include:

  • Discern the most suitable BBA for distinct situations and how to properly create and complete them
  • How written agreements can be a major risk management tool
  • What exclusive representation does NOT entail
  • Showing agreements vs. exclusive representation
  • How to convey the importance of these agreements to your buyer clients
  • The Arbitration Hearing process in mitigating confusion around the matter of procuring cause

Expert Panelists: these professionals utilize BBAs in their business and understand the extreme importance of them. You'll hear from:

  • Manuela Hendrickson - Past Chair of PRO/CPRO and broker of Global Lifestyle, LLC
  • Mashonda Smith - agent with Douglas Elliman
  • Liane Jamason - Broker of Corcoran Dwellings
  • Brad Meinck - Vice President of Commercial for Coastal Properties Group

Lunch will be included!

Florida licensees will earn 3 hours of Specialty CE Credit upon successful course completion.

Manuela Hendrickson has had her real estate license since 1994. She received her Broker's license and Instructor license in 2003 and has been actively involved in the real estate business ever since. She is currently the Designated Broker for Global Lifestyle Realty in St. Petersburg.

Mashonda Smith is the consummate professional, an agent whose dedication to her clients has been winning over buyers, sellers and investors for more than ten years. From relocation consultations and first time buyers, to those seeking the perfect vacation or dream home, each person she works with is treated with care and the highest level of personalized service. Recognized Douglas Elliman top agent nationwide, as an Ellie Award recipient for the past three years: 2021 Leading Edge Award (top 17%), 2022 President’s Circle (Top 17%), and 2023 President’s Circle (Top 16%). The secret to Mashonda’s track record of success comes from the firm belief that every client has a story and each opportunity to partner with a client is a privilege. “Buying a home is usually the largest investment a person makes,” says Mashonda. “It is life changing. I appreciate the trust of each client and I truly cherish the opportunity to be a part of their life’s journey. I also want my clients to know that my services do not end with the closing. In the months and years between transactions, I remain dedicated to helping them enjoy where they live and understand future real estate options.” Originally from North Carolina, Mashonda graduated from the University of North Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies. After college, she was recruited by GTE and made the move to St. Petersburg to begin her career. After meeting her husband in 1999, they were married in July 2001 and today are the proud parents of three children. Mashonda enjoys giving back to her community through various efforts that benefit local non-profits. She has been a board member for Clothes to Kids, advocate for The Next Stepp Center and was an active member of the PTA board for 10 years where she was voted Pinellas County PTA President of the Year. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, baking, and finding good eats, which of course includes Carolina BBQ. Today, Mashonda specializes in residential homes, waterfront, downtown St. Petersburg and the surrounding Tampa Bay area communities. Working across all price ranges and property types, she is committed to working relentlessly on her clients’ behalf to help them achieve their goals.
