Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource (SFR®) Certification (6CE)

Description

The Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource (SFR®) certification is for REALTORS® who want to hone the skills that will allow them to help buyers and sellers of distressed properties. The goals of this Short Sales and Foreclosures course are to: Understand the world of distressed properties and short sales; Identify the crucial role of the buyer’s representative and how they can aid the client through a smooth transaction; and Explain the process of a short sale or foreclosure from contract to close.

This course will provide you with framework for understanding how to:
  • Direct distressed sellers to finance, tax, and legal professionals
  • Qualify sellers for short sales
  • Develop a short-sale package
  • Negotiate with lenders
  • Tap into buyer demand
  • Safeguard your commission
  • Limit risk
  • Protect buyers
This course meets the core education requirements to earn the Short Sales & Foreclosure Resource Certification. Instructor

Gonzalo Mejia is originally from Lima, Peru where he studied Industrial Engineering, specializing in Finance and Accounting. Mejia moved to the United States in 2001 and started his real estate career in 2004 as a Sales Associate in Pensacola, FL. He obtained his Broker License in 2006. After moving to Jacksonville, FL in 2009 he joined Watson Realty Corp. He is the broker/manager of their San Marco office. Mejia also obtained his Real Estate Instructor License in 2013. He holds the following designations ABR, CIPS, CRS, GRI, TRC, AHWD, among others. He was bestowed the honor of being named the Florida Realtors® 2018 Educator of the Year.

During his real estate career Gonzalo, has successfully completed transactions with customers from several Latin American countries, Europe and Asia. He enjoys real estate and sharing his experiences with fellow Realtors. He also believes that having fun makes the process more enjoyable for everybody.

Gonzalo has 20 years of experience as an instructor. Topics he has taught include real estate, math and physics, Spanish as a second language, technology and fitness. He has been a guest speaker at different REALTOR® events to present about cultural diversity. Mejia also volunteers at the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors teaching Ethics, Fair Housing and Anti-trust at the monthly new member
orientation.

Florida licensees will earn 6 hours of Specialty CE Credit upon successful course completion. All REALTOR® attendees will receive credit towards NAR's SFR Certification.
