Back in Washington, he was then promoted to a program analyst position in the office of budget within the Office of Manned Space Flight, and then worked in the Spacelab program’s budget office, also answering Congressional inquiries. After returning to Florida, he was hired by the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services – now called the Florida Department of Children and Families –, working as an outreach coordinator. He spoke before groups about the programs the agency offered and received several letters of thanks for his efforts.
